Public Consultation 2019 (CLOSED)

We are upgrading the Sewerage Code element of the SEQ Code and would value your input.

The current edition of the Sewerage Code element of the SEQ Code is based on WSA 02–2002 published by WSAA in 2002. WSAA published a revised edition of the Sewerage Code of Australia in 2014 (WSA 02–2014). The SEQ Service Providers have produced a draft new SEQ Code edition based on WSA 02–2014. As well as translating the old code information into the new edition, we have undertaken a general review and incorporated improvements to provide greater clarity and better infrastructure outcomes. You can download a commentary outlining the key changes here.

eBook

WSAA have recently changed to an eBook format for the latest editions of most of their codes. eBook users benefit from increased interactivity through technical diagrams and pop-up definitions, efficient navigation, quick and easy discovery of content, editing tools such as bookmarks, notes and highlighting, and the ability to send instant feedback straight to the Association. Viewing codes and standards on any device, especially smartphones or tablets, will improve access for practitioners in the field. It also ensures users are viewing the most up to date versions.

The new SEQ Sewerage Code is an eBook. This will be much easier to use than the current code as the SEQ Amendments are embedded into the eBook instead of being a separate document.

Have Your Say

As this is a significant change to the SEQ Code, we are giving you the opportunity to provide your feedback. And feedback isn’t limited to the new Sewerage Code – we welcome your comments on any of the SEQ Code elements. The public consultation period is now closed, thank you to the parties that submitted comments.

How Do I View the Public Consultation Draft?

Consultation on the draft Sewerage Code eBook is now closed. All other SEQ Code elements, which are currently in force, are available from the Standards and Products pages.

How Do I Make a Submission?

Submissions on the draft Sewerage Code can be entered directly into the eBook, a how to guide can be found here.

Submissions on other SEQ Code elements should be made using the submission form. Submissions should be emailed to qldwater_seq_code@qldwater.com.au (not necessary for feedback provided on the Sewerage Code directly in the eBook).

Submissions closed at 5 pm on Tuesday 9 April 2019.

What Will Happen Next?

Once the public consultation period has concluded, the SEQ Service Providers will consider the submissions received and amend the Code as deemed appropriate. It is envisaged that the new Sewerage Code will be finalised and ready for publication to take effect from 1 July 2019. The new Sewerage Code – SEQ Edition will be published as an eBook only, and will be available for purchase via the WSAA website. The SEQ Amendments to the WSAA Sewerage Code will no longer be published on the SEQ Code website. Further details will be provided when this occurs.

We are also planning to convert the Water Supply Code – SEQ Edition to an eBook format. This is anticipated to occur around the same time that the new Sewerage Code is published.
