The performance of water supply and sewerage networks is critically dependent upon the technical standards and the quality and suitability of the adopted products and materials used in their construction, operation, and maintenance.  The appropriate selection of infrastructure products is critical to achieving long term asset performance, whole-of-life cost optimisation, operability, serviceability, inventory management, and ultimately community expectations.

To ensure compatibility with existing systems, compliance with regulatory and safety requirements, and to minimise operational and maintenance risk, the South East Queensland (SEQ) Water Service Providers maintain Infrastructure Products and Materials (IPAM) lists. These lists identify products that have been assessed and accepted for use within the SEQ network environment.

These products are deemed acceptable for use in appropriate applications, as detailed in the applicable SEQ codes, standard/typical drawings, and technical specifications.

Only the listed accepted products shall be used within each SEQ Water Service Provider's respective area, unless specific concession is obtained from the relevant water service provider for an alternative product. This ensures any proposed variation meets equivalent technical, operational, and compliance standards.

Acceptance of a product does not absolve the manufacturer or supplier from their responsibility to provide products that are fit for purpose.  Similarly, it remains the responsibility of designers to ensure that selected products are fit for purpose for the specific project, and of constructors to ensure correct installation and commissioning.

In general, the SEQ Water Service Providers do not favour any particular brand or product type over others, provided they are listed as accepted products by the Service Provider and meet the required standards.

The SEQ Water Service Providers encourage suppliers to have their products appraised by WSAA before submitting them to the SEQ Water Service Providers for appraisal. A positive WSAA product appraisal may be a prerequisite for some SEQ Water Service Providers to consider acceptance of a product. WSAA specifications are used to define SEQ Water Service Provider's requirements. WSAA Product Specifications are available from WSAA.

The IPAM lists are subject to change; it is the responsibility of all parties to refer to the website for the most current version.  Additional or equivalent products may be added after successful appraisal by the SEQ Water Service Providers.  Products may be removed from the lists if the SEQ Water Service Providers find that these products are deemed not fit for purpose (e.g. due to premature failure, other performance issue, etc).
