This year, for the first time, the South East Queensland water supply and sewerage services industry will have one consolidated set of technical standards which will replace the wide range of requirements previously applied.

These consolidated technical standards will be contained in the SEQ Water Supply and Sewerage Design and Construction Code.

Currently, when developers, engineers, authorities, consultants and retail distributors are planning to design, and connect into existing, water supply and sewerage infrastructure across SEQ, there are literally hundreds of documents and codes they need to be mindful of. The introduction of one consolidated set of technical standards will streamline the design and connection process for the whole of SEQ.

The SEQ Water Supply and Sewerage Design and Construction Code is being developed cooperatively between the Gold Coast City Council, Logan City Council, Queensland Urban Utilities, Redland Water and Unitywater.

We are required by state legislation to introduce this change by 1 July 2013.
